Be informed, empowered and confident throughout your pregnancy, labor and birth with calm and nurturing support from an experienced birth doula Pregnancy and birth is a sacred, transformative journey – filled with joy, but also full of questions, emotions and changes.

Having the right support throughout your journey is essential.

As your birth doula, I guide you throughout pregnancy, helping you prepare - physically, mentally, emotionally, energetically and spiritually - for the arrival of your baby. I also provide evidence-based information so you can trust you’re making the best decisions for your family. And when you go into labor, I’m with you every step and every breath of the way, so you feel grounded, supported and empowered.

When you’re ready to birth, I’ll be right alongside you with the rest of your team and family.

How I Support You as Your Birth Doula

The birth of a child is also the birth of a mother. With physical, emotional and informational support, you’ll never feel alone.

During Pregnacny

  • We’ll clarify your expectations and your vision.

  • Together with your partner, you’ll learn about the physiology of labor and birth and explore various comfort measures to help as you labor. You’ll understand the different stages of labor and how to push without tearing

  • I provide guidance for specific breath techniques and movements that support the development and positioning of your baby, and can set you up for an easeful birth.

  • We’ll also address fears, doubt and concerns and create a Birth Preferences Sheet that aligns with your values.

  • You’ll learn strategies to help you successfully navigate the medical environment too.

You’ll feel grounded and ready, no matter what comes your way.

During Labor

  • My priority is to protect your space, so you feel safe.

  • I aim to create as serene an environment as possible, so you can go inward, connect to your baby and focus on the sacred work of birth.

  • I offer guidance and encouragement, for you and your partner by suggesting gentle movements and positioning or cueing the breath, for example. I also may use acupressure and Reiki to provide relief or support calmness.

  • Your emotions are held with compassion, helping you feel seen, heard and safe throughout the process.

  • Your partner is supported too. I guide them in how to support you effectively, so you can move through birth together as a team.

  • While I do not advocate for your care, I remind you of your Birth Preferences so you can remain focused on the birth you want.

  • I work alongside your team of nurses and doctors.

I aim to create a calm environment so you feel empowered and can stay centered and connected to your body and your baby.

After Birth

  • I stay with you during Golden Hour, helping with skin-to-skin and initial breastfeeding. My goal is to support bonding, recovery, and a smooth transition into new parenthood.

  • We connect again within a few days during a postpartum visit to reflect and process, when I provide additional resources and referrals, if needed.

My role is not to take over, but to walk alongside you, offering steady hands, a calm heart and unwavering support as you bring your baby into the world and step into motherhood.

What is a Birth Doula?

A birth doula is a trained professional who supports you during labor and birth. I’m your calm, steady presence, providing education and information as well as guidance on comfort measures like breathing techniques, positioning suggestions, acupressure, Reiki and encouragement.

I help you advocate for your care and navigate your birth experience with clarity and confidence.
Unlike medical professionals who focus on clinical care, my role is to nurture your emotional and physical well-being throughout labor, ensuring you feel heard, supported and empowered to make informed decisions.

Having a doula support during your pregnancy and by your side during labor has been shown to be beneficial – not just emotionally but physically too. Research shows that having birth doula support can lead to:

  • Shorter labors by helping you stay relaxed and attuned to with your baby’s and your body’s natural rhythms

  • Less need for interventions like induction and birth by cesarean

  • Reduced need for pain medication through natural comfort measures like breathing, movement, massage and positioning.

  • Boosted confidence and sense of control, making you feel seen, heard, and supported throughout the process.

  • Greater satisfaction with your birth experience, whether it’s your first baby or your fifth.

Benefits of a Birth Doula Care

Birth Doula vs. Midwife vs. OB
What’s the Difference?

If you’re new to the idea of birth doula care, you may be wondering how my role differs from that of a midwife or an obstetrician (OB). While we may all support you during your pregnancy and birth, we do so in very different ways - each bringing something unique to your experience.

At the heart of it:

  • A birth doula - focuses on your emotional well-being, physical comfort, and informed decision-making.

  • A midwife - who cares for low-risk pregnancies and often supports natural, physiological birth.

  • An obstetrician (OB) is a medical doctor trained to manage higher-risk pregnancies and perform interventions like inductions and cesareans.

When Should You Hire a Doula?

The earlier you decide to hire a doula, the better.

Ideally, we’ll connect early in your second trimester, which gives us plenty of time to build a relationship, talk through your hopes and fears and begin preparing intentionally.

But if you’re further along, there’s still time to prepare with intention. I’ve supported moms at every stage, beginning at 32 weeks and even at 36 weeks. Birth doula support is meaningful and impactful - even if you’re just weeks away from giving birth.

If you’re looking for non-judgmental support and tools to help you tune out distractions so you can trust yourself and feel confident, calm and connected when you meet your baby, birth doula support could be right for you.

Doula care is especially helpful if you’re:

  • First-Time Parents wanting expert guidance and reassurance.

  • Second-time Parents seeking a positive experience, different than you’re first.

  • VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) Support to prepare your body, mind and family for a new and satisfying experience.

  • Single mom-by-choice wanting a trusted guide for support.

  • Scheduled C-section, wanting support to prepare during pregnancy and help with recovery.

No matter how or where you’ll be giving birth, it’s common to feel nervous or anxious as your due date approaches. With my calm and steady presence, you’ll feel safe and supported on the threshold of motherhood.
